One Friday we got the opportunity to drive up to the capital of Eswatini, Manzini, to do a prayer event through the city. We joined the boys from our squad and all of the AIM staff in Swazi to walk the streets, having conversations with people and praying over them. My group was specifically told to focus on asking people for any prayer that they needed and then take time to actually pray over them.

We got to talk to so many different people and hear a lot about the biggest need in the community. They kept having us pray for the Lord to provide, as jobs are scarce and many are struggling to provide for their families. It was heartbreaking to hear as every conversation came to the same conclusion, “I need the Lord’s help”. But I was so grateful to be a source of encouragement to them that God hears their prayers and He is our provider, He will come through!

We also talked to many people in need of physical healing. Someone was crippled, another had cancer, and another had been suffering from severe migraines. One man came running up to us as he heard that we were going around praying over people and he dropped to his knees begging us to place our hands on his head and pray that the Lord would take his migraines away. He shared how much pain he was in but that he knew the Lord could heal him. So we prayed and after the man still had not received healing. As he walked away I felt very discouraged. I kept thinking, “You hear so often in the Bible that faith like that heals, but why not for him”. I don’t know the answer to that question but what I do know is that God is still just as good and powerful. And even though we might not have seen immediate healing it was beautiful to see the faith he had that the Lord could. And it’s sparked a desire in me to pray and ask the Lord to use His Spirit to work through me in those miraculous ways. Because who knows maybe it was my little faith. I have head knowledge that God can do it but I lack heart knowledge that He will. So I’ve been praying that the Lord would allow me to experience it, to grow my faith in who He is and what He can do. Because we say our God brings dead things back to life, but do we actually pray that He would and believe that He will?

Would you please pray for the people I encountered and that the Lord would grow whatever seeds my squad and I planted. That God would provide for them and show up for them in whatever ways they need. Also pray for me and that God would continue to work in me to grow my faith in what He’s capable of doing.

Here are some pictures from that day:
